We recently bought 5 acres on the Bush Point side of the Trillium land about 3 years ago. We are trying to develop our parcel with as little impact to the land as possible. I am a recently retired biology teacher and am saddened by the thought of development just over the hill from us. My neighbor told me to go down to S. Whidbey state park in January to look at the old groves of cedars. What a wonderful walk I had with the dog, up the hills and through the rainy mist. What magnificent trees I saw. What a small piece of original Whidbey Island forest for generations to see I was thinking as I walked down hill to my car. There were no other people that I could see or hear on that hill by the road. Why wouldn’t we want to preserve more land like that. Once you start looking at the wildlife, even on our piece of property, you can get a sense of the original land. It is not very often that one can sit and listen to nature; it is becoming more difficult all of the time. One
reason we want to move to Whidbey is the pace and friendliness of the island. It is time for people to restore and preserve the land for others. This should become part of our culture. It was started with the national parks, and it is time that local parks must be preserved.

Hope you folks can join us at the M-C Ranch on Saturday for the event. You will enjoy the ranch and the local 4H kids will be the focus of the event when they turn in their pledges they have gathered…
